oVirt is afree Web virtualization management platform project launched byRed Hat.oVirt is built on libvirt that can allow it to manage virtual machines hosted on a supported backend, including KVM, Xen and VirtualBox.However,oVirt is currently focused on only KVM. oVirt is an open source software with support from Red Hat and is based onRed Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
oVirt via VDSMd can use the locally attached storage or network and storage solutions such as NFS and iSCSI and Fibre Channel. GlusterFS as adistributed file system (Red Hat Storage Server) is supported as well as other Posix FS compatible file systems (such as IBM GPFS).
oVirt via VDSMd also configure the networking configuration of the host-link aggregation, VLAN, MTU settings, source routing to complete numerous gateways, and integrating OpenStack Neutron.
oVirt has 3 interfaces on the Web -for administrators, users and another type for self supply. It also has a REST API, a Python SDK and a commandline interface, allowing the automation of most of its features.
